LISBON: Cristiano Ronaldo conceded on Wednesday his long-lasting contention with Lionel Messi has made him “a superior player” and that he appreciates a “sound” competition with the Argentine extraordinary.
In any case, Portuguese star Ronaldo, whose impact at Real Madrid reflected that of Messi at Barcelona before he left for Juventus, conceded that the pair have never mingled together.
“I truly respect the profession he has had and from his side, he has just discussed the failure when I left Spain since it was a contention that he increased in value,” Ronaldo told TVI in Portugal.
“It’s a decent contention yet it’s not exceptional – Michael Jordan had competitions in b-ball, there was Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost in Formula 1. The thing they all shared for all intents and purpose is that they were sound competitions.”
Ronaldo and Messi have won the desired Ballon d’Or multiple times each, a factor that enables every player to prosper.
“I have most likely that Messi has made me a superior player and the other way around. When I am winning trophies it must sting him and it’s the equivalent for me when he wins,” he said.
“I have a brilliant expert relationship since we have been having similar minutes for a long time.
He included: “We’ve never eaten together yet I don’t perceive any reason why we can’t later on. I don’t see an issue with that.”
